2024 Indiana Square & Round Dance Convention

I'm not sure what exactly I was thinking when I took on the job of General Chair of the Convention this year. Lucky for me, I had an incredible team who all pitched in to put this thing together. The Convention Board worked hard and it showed.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped make our 2024 Indiana State Convention so memorable!

It was my immense privilege to present my parents with the Chairman Award at the 34th Indiana Square & Round Dance Convention for their dedication and contributions to our state convention and square dancing overall. No two people are more deserving. They are, without a doubt, the most hard-working people I know. To be able to recognize their contributions in such a meaningful way was a moment I’ll always treasure. I wouldn’t be the person, caller or leader I am without their constant encouragement and support.
Please join me in congratulating them on this award and thanking them for their contributions to make our corner of the world a better place.

2024 Germany Trip

My turn to post about our adventures at the 2024 European MiniLab ! Still pinching myself that this really happened. I had an incredible time during my first trip to Germany. I got to see old friends and make so many new ones!

Another Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention is over! 15 years ago, we attended our very first Indiana State Convention and I haven't missed one yet. It's always a lot of work but so worth it to get together and celebrate the activity we love!

I'm sharing just a few sweet memories in the photos from our weekend in French Lick!

This year was especially meaningful as my parents, Frank Elisa Berger were the general chairmen. A huge shoutout to them on a job incredibly well done! They run a tight ship.

And another special shoutout to our featured caller, Mike Hogan and his lovely wife Denise Hogan for making the trip out! It was great to have y'all here!

32nd Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention

The 32nd Indiana Square & Round Dance Convention is one for the books! As always, there was no shortage of dancing, calling, laughter, fun, and just a few shenanigans. I was so busy most of the weekend that I didn't take many pictures but these are just a glimpse into the fun we had!

71st National Square Dance Convention

It was an incredible week at the 71st National Square Dance Convention, Evansville, IN with more than 2,000 square dancers! I'm constantly reminded how much I love this activity and more importantly, the people in it.

31st Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention

After a year off, it was so good to be back dancing at the Indiana Square & Round Dance Convention in French Lick!

Friday evening kicked off with the President's Ball called by Tim Tyl. Later that night, I hosted an after party full of shenanigans, skits and fun!

Saturday I hosted 2 Hex workshops. The morning session introduced the idea of dancing with 6 couples in a hexagon formation. During the afternoon, we learned more about how to adapt calls to the hexagon. Everyone had a great time learning and practicing something new!

70th National Square Dance Convention

It was amazing to see so much of my square dance family at the 70th National Square Dance Convention in Jackson, MS. It felt so good to be back!

Huge kudos to Dan and Glinda Torvik and their entire Soul Team for all their work!

30th Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention

2019 marked the 30th Anniversary for the Indiana Square & Round Dance Convention. This was also my 10th year to call at the Indiana Convention! Time sure flies when you’re having fun.

Not only was this a special year for the state and for me, it was also exciting because my parents were the General Chairman – they did an amazing job! Shout-out to the entire Convention Board for a great event!

Friday night my family hosted the after party. We had several performances and even a live showing of Dancer Feud (in the style of Family Feud). It was a great time!

Saturday I hosted 2 Hex workshops. The morning session introduced the idea of dancing with 6 couples in a hexagon formation. During the afternoon, we learned more about how to adapt calls to the hexagon. Everyone had a great time learning and practicing something new!

Andrew and I got to call some hot hash on Saturday evening.

2019 Michigan State Square Dance Convention

I had a great weekend calling and dancing at the Michigan State Square Dance Convention in Lansing, MI! Featured callers, Bob Asp, Curt Braffet & Tom Manning did a great job throughout the weekend. I enjoyed seeing many of my friends from Michigan and making new friends too!

29th Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention

I had a fantastic time at the Indiana Square and Round Dance Convention!

Friday night started out with a great dance by featured caller Tom Miller. The theme was "Back to the 50's" and I love seeing so many people dressed in 50's attire! Saturday was full with square and round dancing at all levels, workshops, competition, education sessions, and more!
Finally we ended a packed weekend with the Sunday morning Gospel Finale!

The Indiana Convention is one of my favorite times of the year because I get to see so many good friends in one place!

Join us next year in French Lick for our 30th Convention - November 8, 9 & 10, 2019!

Illinois State Square Dance Convention

I had a great weekend calling, cueing, and dancing at the Illinois State Square Dance Convention! A special highlight for me was the opportunity to call with Tom Miller. Such an honor to share the stage with an incredible caller.
Love seeing old friends and making new ones too!

67th National Square Dance Convention 2018

More than 3,100 dancers attended the 67th National Square Dance Convention in Kansas City, MO. I was one of those lucky dancers! The Convention offers a variety of programming for attendees including squares, rounds, lines, contra, education panels, seminars, sewing clinics, and plenty of opportunities for networking with attendees from around the world! We danced from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM Thursday through Saturday and had an absolute blast! I had so much fun seeing old friends and making new ones too! I've posted a short slideshow below.

The highlight of my weekend was on Saturday night when I had the honor of calling with the Ghost Riders Square Dance Band for the first time! These guys are incredible and so much fun to work with. Check out the video below!

I had a great time at the CALLERLAB Convention this year in Albuquerque, NM. It was so much fun to network with other callers, listen to some of the legends of square dancing, and brainstorm about the future of the activity!

Kentucky State Convention

In September, I attended my first KY State Square Dance Convention!
This was my first time calling in Kentucky.
I had a great time calling, dancing, and seeing our Kentucky friends!

Wisconsin State Square & Round Convention

I had a blast calling and dancing at the Wisconsin State Square & Round Dance Convention. This was my first time calling and dancing in Wisconsin and I felt very welcome! So glad Mom and Dad let me tag along on their trip!

This weekend was especially memorable as this was my first time calling with a live band! Shout out to the Siegmann family for providing outstanding live music for the Inspiration hour and during the last hour of dancing! We just got back from another fun-filled weekend at the Indiana State Square Dance Convention in French Lick, IN. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put together a great event! Indiana State Square Dance Convention 2014

We had a great time at the 2014 Indiana State Square Dance Convention! We placed first in the competition and had a great time.

Fall 2013

Well it has been a busy fall for us! Both of us are studying at Indiana University South Bend but are continuing to call almost every weekend and loving it!

We were honored to be asked to call at the Indiana State Museum Dance with Samuel Atherton and Samuel Mestel in September. A Special Thank you to Tom Davis. We had a great crowd and so much fun!

The Indiana State Square Dance Convention in October was also so much fun. We enjoyed both dancing and calling all weekend long.

We have also been busy calling area club dances including Star Righters in Michigan City, IN, Call & Caper in Chicago, IL, and Tanglefoots in Paw Paw, MI. Thank you so much to all the dancers that support our calling and this awesome activity!
