2024 Fall CALLERLAB Dance

It's always a privilege to call with these incredible talented folks! We raised over $1,300 for CALLERLAB at the Fall CALLERLAB Fundraising Dance.

The dance was sponsored by the Riley Wranglers Square Dance Club and the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club - thanks to all the members who helped facilitate the details of this event!
Special thanks to the Executive Committee for volunteering their time and talent during this dance. Chair Ted Lizotte, Vice Chair Justin Russell, Executive Committee Members Shauna Forbush Kaaria, Tony Oxendine, and Jack Pladdys, and Executive Director, Teresa Berger.
Shoutout to the other callers in attendance: Gary Hutton, Tom Davis, Janet Lewis, Doris Swain, Travis Cook, Amanda Skidmore, Avery Arnold, Keith Dishman, Phillip Peak, Doug Cline, and Bill Garrison.

2024 Germany Trip

My turn to post about our adventures at the 2024 European MiniLab ! Still pinching myself that this really happened. I had an incredible time during my first trip to Germany. I got to see old friends and make so many new ones!
Wir arbeiten. Wir tanzen. Wir essen. Und wir trinken. Es ist ein Abenteuer!
So proud of the work our team put in to get this event off the ground. It’s an exciting time to be part of CALLERLAB!

CALLERLAB Convention 2024

Sharing just a few highlights from a super memorable week in Texas for the 49th CALLERLAB Convention.
I wrote a recap on the Callerlab, the International Association of Square Dance Callers Facebook Page yesterday and I'll share it here as well to sum up the week.

We "repped" the CALLERLAB blue.
We reconnected with old friends.
We made new connections.
We discussed important issues.
We "researched" choreography.
We discussed differing viewpoints.
We shared our stories.
We honored legends.
We planned for next year.
We dreamed big about the future of square dancing.
We worked hard.
We laughed.
We cried.
We celebrated.

I am so proud of our leadership, members, and the organization as a whole.

Another shoutout to our amazing staff, the planning committee and all our volunteers throughout the week. We couldn't have done it without you.

CALLERLAB Dance in Indiana

A huge thanks to the 171 dancers who came out to the CALLERLAB fundraiser dance this weekend and raised over $1,600 for CALLERLAB!

The dance was sponsored by the Riley Wrangers Square Dance Club and the Star Promenaders - thanks to all the members who helped facilitate the details of this event!

We had attendees from Indiana, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, South Carolina, & Tennessee.

Special thanks to the Executive Committee for volunteering their time and talent during this dance. Chair Ted Lizotte - Square Dance Caller, Vice Chair Buddy Weaver, Executive Committee Members Tony Oxendine, Jack Pladdys & Justin Russell - Square Dance Caller, and Executive Director, Teresa Berger.

CALLERLAB Convention 2022

Exactly one week ago, I arrived in Pittsburgh, PA for the 47th CALLERLAB Convention - my first as Executive Director. As I'm heading home today, I can't believe the week is already over. I'm inspired by the passion and energy of our membership and thrilled by the enthusiasm to "Restart, Reconnect, & Restore" the square dance activity.
I couldn't have done it without the support of my amazing team: from the Home Office, Dana Schirmer & Donna Schirmer and volunteers, Frank Elisa Berger & Avery Arnold. We had lots of other folks who jumped in to help along the way too. Please know how much you are appreciated!
I'm lucky to serve an incredible organization and have many folks who have given me so much support, respect and encouragement along the way.

Excerpt from the CALLERLAB DIRECTION Newsletter November-December 2020:

Executive Director Transition
The Board of Governors have approved Teresa Berger as the new Executive Director effective December 1, 2020. Dana will remain on staff as the Assistant Executive Director to assist Teresa.
Dana has served as the Executive Director of CALLERLAB since 2009. During his tenure, Dana had a tremendous impact on the organization. We are grateful for his leadership and continued expertise in the Home Office.

I had a great time at the CALLERLAB Convention this year in Albuquerque, NM. It was so much fun to network with other callers, listen to some of the legends of square dancing, and brainstorm about the future of the activity!
